Splash-in at Eskragh Lough. Always a great day out, not to be missed.
Lisburn Indoor flying has been moved to next week, so there's no excuse....
|
 |
The crowd was gathering at 10am. |
Phil's Raptor ready for takeoff. |
 |
 |
Lunchtime - Pilots need re-fuelling as well ! |
Electric power put in an appearance too - with
this AXI
turning an APC 13x8 prop. |
 |
 |
The Predator burning some jet fuel. |
Regi's Sea Wind sets off from the slipway. |
 |
 |
Moments later it takes to the air. |
Eric and Chris set off to rescue Chris's boat
which had flipped over. Something to do with
the fuel he's using.... |
 |
 |
The car park was full, late arrivals had to park
at the road. |
The other end was packed out as well.
An Eskragh splash-in can certainly pull in a crowd. |
 |
 |
George has had a hair raising moment - or the
jetty is sinking...
Thanks to all the organisers for a superb day !! |
 | Saturday 14th October 2006 |
The first Lisburn indoor meeting for the 2006/7 season brought a
flood of modellers to the leisure centre at 2pm.
Free flight people set up at the far side of the hall and radio control fliers made a
reasonable effort to stay on the
near side; use of the complete hall meant that this worked quite well even with the
large numbers.
Some pilots had travelled a distance to the event, including Stu, Paul and friends from
Dublin. There was a constant
supply of spectators on the net protected balcony.
Shock flyers were the most common aircraft, with a few Panics, a couple of PicoStiks and
those things which Richard
makes. There were just two Butterfly models - most pilots seem to have moved on to
faster machines.
Matthew had some new bits of depron fixed to the ailerons on his shocky but he didn't
notice any worthwhile
improvement to knife edge flight.
The flight line was busy but there were few 'incidents' with only one lightweight model
seen damaged in a mid-air bump.
Mike, Eric and Maurice had radio controlled and free flight models, Eric was flying both
at the same time!
Adrian was flying around with a photoshopped photograph of the 'Red Baron' from the
Kestrels club.... apparently Karl
is supplying the Red Baron with a helmet for the next meeting.
Helicopters were hovering around as well, a T-Rex had the hall for a while, two Twister 3D
models were spotted and
an assortment of smaller models hovered carefully around the edges of the hall.
Good fun was the order of the day and 5.30pm arrived all too soon when many gathered
around the corner at Harry
Ramsdens for a fish supper before the drive home.
Thanks once again to the organisers for a great day out.

The Lisburn hall has plenty of space for Indoor flying.
Matthew is testing Trevor's 'Panic'. |
Lots of shock flyers, a few travelled from Dublin. |
 |
 |
Still possibly the best indoor trainer - the Butterfly. |
Matthew and Howard now have 'Twister' helis
Great value if you have a CCPM transmitter.
Thanks to Ken for the photographs. |
 |

Indoor flying for the local Scouts at Kesh School
- they enjoyed
the outdoor session at the Kestrels airfield in May so the Kestrels
club brought along some models to their meeting and flew aeroplanes and helicopters
in the hall.
They all had a go as well, there are certainly some future
pilots in the group!
Thanks to Ken, Davey, Gordon and Robert for their help.
