F3P UK Championship (Indoor flying) competition at Leeds.
A lot of travelling but the weather was kind and
Kestrels MFC was well represented, with 5th
place in the B and C F3P schedules.
Our group travelled on the Belfast/Liverpool ferry
overnight with the models in the car, it all turned
out to be a Christmas party!

Lots of the aircraft were works of art with every possible
piece of depron removed to reduce weight.
The F3P models have all sorts of air brakes added
to slow their flight and give more time for tricky moves.
Aeromusical models have more emphasis on
rigidity and power. |
Five famous faces had to judge every flight from the
best seats in the house. Pilots and models lined up
behind them in the flying order.
Scores were quickly transported to the desk
for entry to the computer scoring system. |

One of the pilots from Sweden had an entertaining routine
for the audience during the intervals.
Note that his trainers have to be colour co-ordinated
with the aircraft which he is flying! |
After an entertaining drive from Carlisle involving
a well packed Nissan Micra, the Scots models and pilots
all flew well and enjoyed the day. |

 |
Some last minute repairs and improvisation kept
the models in the air.
There were very few crashes apart from one
pilot whose motor kept 'falling off' and help
was always there for those who needed it. |
With the raffle drawn and the prizes awarded, it was
time to gather up again and head for home.
Looks like there was a car boot sale in the car park....
All in all it was a great weekend out and the
competition was fun as well. |
