 Landing 'complete' at JWM2007 in
Enniskillen
|
 |
Savex L-39
4ft wing span
4kg dry weight
Wren 44 turbine
Spring Air retracts
Ready to go on the day of the test flight
(all went well and there were 3 flights
before the daylight was failing)
This model has now had dozens of flights at
lots of NI club fields.
Here is a short piece of
video, make
sure you have the volume turned up!
Thanks to Peter for this take-off
video |
One servo on each half elevator
M2 threaded rod covered with carbon tube |
 |
 |
Another servo built into the fin and linked to
the rudder
Lots of movement possible |
And a short link to the steerable nose wheel leg
which swings forward
This servo has more mechanical advantage
- only a small amount of steering movement
with full servo throw |
 |
 |
2 more 3.5kg digital servos in each side for
flap
and aileron control
The flaps are vital to slow the model down for landing
No elevator mix is necessary
Aileron throw is only 5mm up & down |
FOD screen on the front of the Wren 44 Turbine
could that be a tea strainer.... |
 |
 |
The back end has a Wren tailpipe with extra
insulation
which probably isn't necessary |
Fuel tank Graupner 1 litre, UAT under the
receiver
fuel pump, air cylinder and valve all in there |
 |
 |
Fly past with flaps down at Jet World Masters
|
First 3 flights done, thanks again to Ian for a
great day out. |
 |

|

Flaps down, nose up for a gentle touchdown.
|

This isn't trick photography either.
|

All ready for the BBQ ! |
