Splash-in at Eskragh Lough near Dungannon. A cold day, but no rain and 12 flyers
was a good turnout for the start of the year. Regi wasn't happy until he saw a Raptor
doing autorotations onto the water, then he saw a real one when the engine stopped! Eric's
Seamaster almost escaped away before he got his transmitter aerial up... with some frantic
acrobatics. This is a great site for a splash-in, with no obstructions and plenty of safe
flying.

Indoor Flying at Lisburn - the full hall has been booked (we usually fly in half
of the hall) so there should be double trouble this time. I counted over 20 pilots and
there were at least 2 aircraft in the air throughout the afternoon. Four T-Rex helicopters
were flying, two with working lights. Sam did some wing bending aerobatics, Howard was
trying his hand with a Bell 47 helicopter: is he going over to the dark side?

Indoor Flying at Lisburn Leisureplex. A busy flying session, this event is
becoming very popular! Matthew and Simon showed us some very impressive flying with their
shockflyers; Matthew doing torque rolls in the centre of the hall while Simon flew rolling
circles around him. Ken was very lucky hovering around on channel 64 as nobody else had
that channel, and Harry had a ball with his IFO on his first outing to Lisburn. Brian's
butterfly was the only casualty which I noticed but no doubt he'll have it back together
before next month's flying.

Banbridge Auction - an evening not to be missed. A vast array of aircraft for
sale with plenty of bargains to be nabbed! We came home with three nicely built aircraft
which filled the car. A thoroughly entertaining evening, thanks to the Banbridge club once
again. Now the race is on to see which aeroplane is first to fly.....

Indoor Flying at Lisburn Leisureplex, the last indoor flying session at Lisburn
this season. Three IFOs, two mini Panics, three Butterflies and an assortment of other
aircraft took to the air, along with 2 T-Rex and at least three contra-rotating type
helicopters. Three hours always races past. Next season the complete hall will be
available for extra flying.

Indoor Flying at ALSAA Sports Centre near Dublin Airport 1300 - 1800hrs. There
are four Kestrel MFC members going, contact us if you need directions. We met modellers
from Cork, Limerick and Dublin and had a great day. The hall was huge, the biggest indoor
venue so far (9 badminton courts well spaced apart). There were all sorts of shock flyers,
a few IFOs and other homebuilds plus a collection of helicopters. A lot of interest was
shown in my T-Rex and many questions were asked about its setup, battery type and the
flashing light at the tail rotor. Ken enjoyed flying the Butterfly in the vast space, and
Raymond took a few photographs:

Some of the pilots who attended the event,
others were in the canteen or taking photos.
|
Almost everyone had more than one model to fly. |

I liked the operating table which arrived from Cork. |
The first casualty went into the basketball net
and was flying again shortly after this rescue. |
