bulletWe fly indoor aeroplanes and helicopters regularly throughout the year.
Thanks to those who support these events for making them such a success!

bulletAircraft are home designed, Shock Flyers, IFO, Butterfly and other bits of motorised depron/EPP.

bulletHelicopters are Raptor Mini Titan, Twister 3D Storm, T-Rex (various) and similar models.

Cameras were out for the Hughes 500 helicopter
- but what size is this one?

Here's a clue, it flies for 15 minutes on a
standard 3 cell lipo...

Two Hughes 500 helicopters with some formation flying.

Look closely at the turbine exhaust on one, there's
a red glow inside.

A closer look, these are a good looking scale subject.

Another superb scale helicopter joins the indoor fleet.

Two T-Rex 600s in scale bodies with lights, retracts etc.
had everyone landed and cameras out.

These young fellas find F3P is a doddle.

No limits to aerobatics with a sky-high ceiling.

Plenty of space for flightlines for all models, a huge radiant
heater for the cold and even night flying outside;
what better way to pass the winter evenings!

It's a twister storm if you haven't already guessed.
Enhanced with a few LEDs it looks great in the air.

There are 6 models flying here, each in their own airspace.

Shock flyers get outside as well, four of these in the air
together make it difficult to know which one is yours.

Indoor flying went ahead on dark and windy evenings.

Kestrels indoor flying on Sunday, who's that at the
back of the queue?

The new Twister comes with everything you need to fly
except for a receiver and a transmitter.

It is slightly bigger than its predecessor, more like
a T-rex with a very colourful appearance.

This twin rotor Chinook was flying on Sunday,
rolling take-offs and landings - pirouettes around
each rotor, a really good model.

A great new indoor model, prop hanging here but
so light (130gm flying) that a touch of throttle has
it charging to the ceiling.

Novel air brakes, light weight and loads of thrust,
a perfect combination for smooth accurate aerobatics.

2.4GHz radio, super quick servos running on 8v,
servo connectors and all unnecessary parts removed !

The latest craze - Indoor jet flying

A few circuits and now he's ready for take-off
on a rescue mission

Great fun at the indoor flying on Tuesday evening.

An improvised prop hanging contest started, and
developed into a 'how many can we get in the centre
circle' competition. There were 6 or 7 attempting to
get in there but there was barely enough space
with the inevitable collisions....

I couldn't get a picture of more than 3 in the outer circle.
Looks like everyone is aiming at that centre spot!

'The Stig' arrived to the indoor flying on Thursday...

A line of models go up the wall to hang their
undercarriage on the pelmet.

Some of the indoor aircraft are very carefully assembled.

Indoor flying is great fun for all ages....

It gets better! A huge turnout to our
indoor night on 7th December.

Here TWELVE aircraft take off together,
there may have been repairs required
afterwards but none were out of action for long.

Helicopters flew every hour, flying didn't even
pause during the tea break.

Some were still flying after midnight!

Thanks to Ken for the picture.

It's a popular indoor pastime to loop around the rafters
but you need to watch that you don't get stuck there.

Now and then a prop chews up some depron or EPP
and it's back to the pits for a checkout....

A quick search for the pieces, some UHU Por and
a helping hand soon has it back in shape.

Any of us can have a spot of trouble with a new
model, but this one has really got into a hole....

Turn out the lights and watch this T-Rex tumbling
around in the dark!

A vintage Kalt Whisper, now modified with a brushless
motor and LiPo battery, takes a look around.

Twelve of the indoor pilots rounded up, a few
must be hiding as there are over 30 aircraft
on the floor !!

If you haven't tried indoor flying yet you really
don't know what you're missing.

IFO

One of the most popular indoor aircraft is the
Indoor Flying Object.

This can fly like a trainer or a wild thing and
can withstand severe punishment.

Often powered by the cheap & cheerful 'bell' brushless motor.

The T-Rex has been a popular helicopter.
It flies like a small Raptor for around

15 minutes with a 2000mAh LiPo battery.

Shock Flyer suspended on a fishing line

Matthew (Banbridge MFC) came to an indoor
flying evening and showed how a shock flyer
can be flown by an expert!

We are all still in shock.....

(but catching up fast!)

The Mini Panic is a great indoor flyer.
It can fly in a tiny space, slow or fast
and even outside in a gentle breeze.

Bit of a tangle !

Sometimes the indoor airspace gets busy
and aircraft get tangled up....

Indoor survival flight 26th October: seven aircraft
take off together, last one still in the air wins.
